Monday Morning Armchair Quarterback ~ Preseason, Week 2 #football @meganslayer

d1b90-monday2bmorning2bquarterback2bposter

Still haven’t seen my Bengals this season, but it won’t be long before I do. I’ll get there.  Until then, it’s time for the preseason quotes. There were a few goodies from the first week that didn’t quite make the cut last time around, but they’re here now! Let’s get started.

“He’s as fast as they come.”

Which is why he’s a favorite.

“From the money pocket.”

He moved fast, which is why he found that money pocket so fast.

“A wobbly one.”

He swings low, sweet chariot.

“Tight splits.”

Hmm…bring lube.

“Playing with his hands.”

Got to work in those tight splits somehow.

Now for those wonderful quotes this week from the various preseason games. You won’t want to miss these.

“Cannot have penetration in the backfield”

He wants it all in the front field.

“Gotta slide and get your body around it.”

We’re back to those tight splits, eh? Sounds more like wrestling.

“We gotta check that and get the ball tucked away so it doesn’t get out.”

If he’s the guy who is swinging low, then yeah, you might want to tuck that back in.

“Undersized but has a little wiggle to him.”

He’s popular…

“We’ve got to pick it up; they’ve had their way with us for too long.”

Sure do if you want to keep things even.

“A lot of length on their line.”

If it’s a suck line, then it might be worth it. Gotta try every one.

And now for the Doozy of the Week…this is the one that had me scratching my head the longest or was just so far out there…I couldn’t believe it. Ready?

“Loves to use tight ends in the offense.”

Well, if there are lines and lengths, then you’ve got to use them as an offense. Got to have something between you and the rest of the team.

Well, those are the first week of the madness. Technically the second week, but it’s the first week of full action. Here’s to a good season, less CTE, more great plays and lots of fun! Oh, and WHO DEY!

Monday Morning Armchair Quarterback ~ Draft Edition with @MeganSlayer

d1b90-monday2bmorning2bquarterback2bposter

I couldn’t let the draft go by without checking for quotes and I wasn’t let down. Not a bit. These guys really need to think before they speak. Ha! But it’s a boon for me and my readers. But before I forget, John Ross for the Bengals.  I’m for the pick. Yes. Who Dey!!!

Now, about those quotes…

“He’s got get-off and burst.”

Hee hee. Hopefully he doesn’t make a mess, too.

“Dominating physical presence.”

He’s a big guy. He’d better be dominating.

“Creating separation with power.”

Because anything less is uncivilized.

“He loves tight ends; loves receivers.”

Enough said.

“Finds the hole and fills it.”

Probably what he’s supposed to do. It’s appreciated.

“He can’t carry a major load.”

Because it’s already spent.

“Quick and responsive.”

Better than slow and lazy.

“He’s got the arm; he’s got the athletic ability…but can he be competitive in the pocket?”

That’s up to him. If he can use what he’s got, then he’s fine. If not, then they’ve got issues.

Monday Morning Armchair Quarterback ~ Week 14

d1b90-monday2bmorning2bquarterback2bposter

Playing against the Steelers is never easy. Needless to say, I didn’t watch it all, but the first half was great. Second half? Not so much. Sigh. How about we move right on to something that’s comical, instead of depressing?

Yes, let’s move forward to the funnies.

There are Honorable Mentions from last week–like always–so…here we go…

“A gaping hole”.

It’s been widely used.

“Sacked and seated.”

Sometimes you just have to tap out.

Okay, time for the Quotes of the Week. These are a real rip. Always!

“Professional finishers.”

They know the job.

“Excellent receiver.”

The popular one.

“Got his hands on it. Couldn’t hang on.”

It’s a wiley one!

“He can create some penetration.”

But can he finish it?

“That’s a clean block.”

Because it wasn’t ready to be finished.

And now for the Doozy of the Week. Oh my…

This one is all kinds of wrong. Just all kinds.

“Squirts that out beautifully.”

Ew. Just…Ew.

Thanks for reading and please check out the other posts from the rest of the week.

Enjoy!

Monday Morning Armchair Quarterback ~ Week 13

d1b90-monday2bmorning2bquarterback2bposter

The Bengals won one… Okay it was against the Browns and right now they can’t win their way out of a wet paper bag, but still. It’s a win. I’m not complaining. To top it off, Andy Dalton was named the Walter Payton Man of the Year candidate for the Bengals. Love him or hate him, he is a good guy. He deserves it.

Since it’s that time…let’s get to the funnies.

There are Honorable Mentions from last week–like always–so…here we go…

“Deep balls.”

He swings low.

“He gets up then goes down.”

Then he starts all over again.

Okay, time for the Quotes of the Week. These are a real rip. Always!

“Not an overly big guy.”

But he’s sweet.

 “Not very smooth.”

He’s for the ones who like scruff.

“He fills the hole.”

Scruffy, medium build…he’s an everyman who gets the job done!

“He slips, then has no opportunity.”

Well, it wasn’t his time that time.

“A good hold.”

 Better than a bad one.

And now for the Doozy of the Week. Oh my…

This one is all kinds of wrong. Just all kinds.

“He knows how to finish.”

This isn’t his first rodeo. He knows how to ride and satisfy.

Thanks for reading and please check out the other posts from the rest of the week.

Enjoy!

Monday Morning Armchair Quarterback ~ Week 10 … really late

d1b90-monday2bmorning2bquarterback2bposter

Oh… gracious. It’s not been a fun few weeks for the Bengals. They’ve played hard, but it isn’t showing up as wins. Boo. Keep the faith, right? Sigh.

Since it’s that time…let’s get to the funnies.

There are Honorable Mentions from last week–like always–so…here we go…

“took it deep.”

Better than a rim job…unless that’s what was wanted.

“stuffed it.”

Since it’s deep, stuffing sounds about right.

Okay, time for the Quotes of the Week. These are a real rip. Always!

“his ball…flows a bit.”

He’s a flopper.

 “he has big hands.”

And he knows how to use them.

“wants to feel the leather.”

But how? Paddle? Cat O’Nine Tails? Details, people!

“Cuts the ball in the wind.”

Better than the cheese.

And now for the Doozy of the Week. Oh my…

This one is all kinds of wrong. Just all kinds.

“He got so much penetration…wow.”

Whatever works.

Thanks for reading and please check out the other posts from the rest of the week.

Enjoy!

Monday Morning Armchair Quarterback ~ Week 10

d1b90-monday2bmorning2bquarterback2bposter

We’re part of Monday Night Football. I’m hoping we go against type and pull this one out. Honestly, they don’t do well in prime time. That doesn’t mean I don’t have faith. I do.

Go Bengals!

Since it’s that time…let’s get to the funnies.

There are Honorable Mentions from last week–like always–so…here we go…

“a good little stunt inside.”

Don’t insult the man’s junk.

“came in and loses it.”

When you’re not big, it can happen.

“inital pressure.”

Well, maybe he was good to begin with and lost it. You don’t know.

Okay, time for the Quotes of the Week. These are a real rip. Always!

“Quite a battle. I say let ’em play.”

It’s all part of the experience.

 “Devastating block.”

That’s what happens when you play. You can get burned.

“too much time in the hole.”

As long as you’ve got enough lube, there’s no such thing as too much time in the hole.

“Four tight ends in a row.”

For better selection, of course.

“One of the better stiff arms you’ll ever see.”

He said no. Deal with it.

And now for the Doozy of the Week. Oh my…

This one is all kinds of wrong. Just all kinds.

“Spread ’em out in that formation and you saw what happened.”

He gets his pick and it makes him happy. Everyone wins.

Thanks for reading and please check out the other posts from the rest of the week.

Enjoy!

Monday Morning Armchair Quarterback ~ Week 8 ~ A little late…

d1b90-monday2bmorning2bquarterback2bposter

Hmm… a tie is better than a loss, but it’d be better if we were a .500 ball club. Oh well. Go Bengals!

Since it’s that time…let’s get to the funnies.

There are Honorable Mentions from last week–like always–so…here we go…

“Getting Penetration.”

That was the goal, so good job!

“Playing downside…inside.”

Is that another way to explain sex?

“Gang tackle.”

Ah, this is foreplay. Got it.

Okay, time for the Quotes of the Week. These are a real rip. Always!

“penetration and making plays.”

That’s the thrill of the chase.

 “release our players.”

they do tend to help the room open up that way. Good call.

“Allows him to come under.”

Unless he wanted over. Just sayin’.

“some gaping holes.”

Kinky.

And now for the Doozy of the Week. Oh my…

This one is all kinds of wrong. Just all kinds.

“After the initial release, he got back on top.”

He is a professional. He took a fall and kept going. Bravo.

Thanks for reading and please check out the other posts from the rest of the week.

Enjoy!
