Friday Five with @meganslayer #writing #storystarter

This week’s words are: track, manner, chin, live, blonde

You know you want to take part, so do it!! Go to http://www.longandshortreviews.com for more information!

I thought this week, since I’m super late, I’d go back to #findmolly The words just worked for it.

Willie got the mail when he returned to his house and rifled through the letters. He preferred to live conservatively – cheaply, as Molly would say – and there weren’t many bills, but one envelope stuck out.

He’d know that handwriting anywhere.

Molly.

He should’ve checked the piece of mail for fingerprints before he’d touched it the first time. Drat. He grabbed a latex glove from his kit, then used his letter opener to get into the contents of the envelope.

A picture. Nothing more.

Willie stared at the photo of Molly. He’d always known her as a blonde, but this picture was of her as a brunette. In the picture, she’d jutted her chin out in a defiant glare. Whoever had taken the image must’ve upset her. She tended to smile in photos, not look at the photographer in such a manner.

He continued to stare at the photo, searching for anything that might give a clue to her whereabouts. Was she alive? Dead? He needed to track her but how?

It just might be time to bring in the experts…

“There’s a bookstore and it has a coffee shop. I go there. I spend a lot of time with Molly because she’s alone at the B&B. Her last boyfriend was a real peach and when he left, he screwed her over. Stole her money, wrecked her car…so she’s kind of touchy.” He stretched his legs. “Otherwise I do my own thing. I spend a lot of time at the library and working with the ladies group who helps the library.”

“No boyfriend?”

Isn’t he full of questions again? “No.”

“Me either.” Tristan blew out a long breath. “Why don’t we go down to the diner? I’m starving and…why not?”

“Sure.” He eyeballed Tristan. The guy wasn’t asking him to come home with him. Just a meal together. Why did this feel like more? Because he wanted more? Christ, he hadn’t gone out with anyone since Barry and even then, the connection wasn’t strong. He stood and stretched, then settled next to Tristan. He could be crazy, but he’d like to find out more about Tristan.

Tristan remained beside Michael as they walked to the diner. He could get used to being with Michael. He’d only been in town for twenty-four hours and he couldn’t fathom not having Michael in his life. As friends? Absolutely. As lovers? If he had his way, then yes.

Mallory stilled his hand. “I saw you race. You did well.”

Her touch sparked the feelings he’d long since buried. So much for getting over her. “I had motivation.” Her picture in his pocket and the memories of her on his heart.

Her cheeks paled and her eyes widened. “Motivation?” Her brows knotted. “I see.” She straightened her blouse. “Well, good luck tonight.”

Blaine took a step back. Something happened between them, but fuck if he understood what. “Don’t tell me you came here for small talk. You hate making conversation for the sake of wasting time. What’s going on?” He touched her cheek. “You aren’t even smiling. What’s wrong?”

Her shoulders sagged and a tear slipped down her cheek. The old feelings rushed back into his heart. The longing, the need, wanting to fuck her until she screamed–God, he had it bad for her. He gathered her into his arms and stroked her hair. “Tell me who hurt you. I’ll make it right.”

Mallory stared up at him. “No one hurt me.” She wiped her face with the back of her hand, smearing her mascara. Instead of scrambling for a tissue to fix the damage, she continued staring at him. “I had a plan when I came here. And now it’s all fucked up. I lost my nerve.”

“Oh?” He brushed a lock of her hair off her forehead. “Why is that? What was your plan?”

“This.” She threaded her arms around his neck and bounced on her toes to meet him for a kiss.

The blood rushed from his brain to his groin. He closed his eyes. She still tasted like honey and lemon. He swept his tongue over her lips and moaned when she gave him passage. He tangled his tongue with hers and held her tight to his chest. So soft and strong in his arms. Her light whimpers and the scratch of her nails on his back added to his pleasure. He drifted away, lost in the kiss, drunk on her and in total bliss. If he had more time, he’d throw her over his shoulder and take her into the camper bay of the hauler to have his way with her.

“Thought I’d find you here.”

Blaine opened his eyes. Mallory hadn’t broken the kiss. She mirrored his surprise. She slipped away from him and swiped her tongue across her bottom lip. Blaine held onto her and turned his attention to the interloper.

Well, shit.

Writing What You Love with @MeganSlayer #vampires #gayromance #eroticromance #gay From the Paranormal Romantics Blog

I am part of a book club, well 2, and for one of them we have to read the book the group selects. I don’t mind. These tend to be books I wouldn’t have read otherwise. So I’d finished the book selected for this month and was returning it to the library. I told the librarian that I’d returned it, so when she saw it in the return…that’s why. She asked me what I thought about the book. It wasn’t my favorite story. It wasn’t. I had some issues with the way the author wrote the true crime story. He focused more on his thoughts and his insertion into the story, while trying to claim it was a true crime kind of tale. If he’d said it was a work of fiction, then he was spot on, but by calling it true crime…well, I disagreed.

Here’s the thing, the librarian then said to me, well you have to write what you know. He must feel that close to the story.

She’s right. He must’ve felt that close to the story. To be honest, the crime he wrote about hit me hard, too. But I’m not a crime writer. I get too antsy during mystery books and want to disclose whodunit immediately. I guess it’s part of my short attention span. But what she said got me to thinking. Write what I know? Or write what my imagination and the characters dictate?

I tend to write what I want based on what the characters tell me to do. Really. I tried to write more than a few times to what I knew. It’s only worked when my characters share some of my experiences. Okay, so I don’t personally know any vampires and I haven’t chatted up a zombie, but that’s my imagination. I don’t know if I wrote a story that focused just on my personal experience, if it would be a good story. I don’t know. I guess it would be more of an autobiography than a work of fiction. Although I suppose the book would be a mix of both. My memories aren’t photographic. For all I know, I’d probably embellish–not to make the tale better, but because that’s how I’d remembered it.

But I haven’t written that story about my experiences. I’ve written about vampires, zombies, shifters, romance, love and people finding second chances. It’s been fantastic. I love it. I’ve written with my friends and written alone. I can’t wait to get my next book out there. I hope you all enjoy them. 🙂

Here’s a little bit about my upcoming story, Biting Love. It’s part of the series I wrote as a crossover to Madison Sevier’s Rosie Peaks series. Check it out!!

Could losing his partner be the gateway to the greatest experience of his life?

Chris Jordan swore when his partner died in January of 1979, he’d never find another lover. He didn’t want another one. But six months later, he still yearns for the man he loved.

Chris finds a letter from Steve telling him to visit Start Me Up, an electronics store. What could his partner have planned? What he finds at the store blows his mind, but will he be able to accept the desires of his partner — especially a seemingly robotic version of Steve?

Only time and patience will tell if these two lovers can find the passion they shared or if Steve’s death meant the end of everything.

“Please don’t go.”

Chris froze. He had to be imagining things. Steve was dead and there was no way he’d come back. He wasn’t a ghost. Was he pulling a stunt? Nah. That wasn’t possible. The man was dead. No way he could be talking to Chris. None. Still, the voice sounded one hell of a lot like Steve. Chris turned around.

The man resembling Steve smiled. “Christopher Lee Jordan. I left that letter for you to find. I knew it’d take you a while to read it, but I didn’t think it would be this long. I’m sorry. If I could’ve come to you, I would’ve.”

“Come to me?” His breath clogged in his throat again. “I don’t know who you are, but my Steve is dead. I saw him buried.”

“You did,” the man replied.

“Then what’s this all about?” Chris asked.

“I never really died.”

She’d never admit the truth out loud, but she’d been drawn to him since the moment he’d been traded to the team. From his inky black hair and his deep brown eyes, down his chiseled torso to his sculpted legs and feet, she wanted to caress him. What would it feel like to lie beside him in bed and discuss football plays? She bit back the urge to chuckle. Yes, she was that girl. She ate, breathed, and slept football. But sleeping with the players wasn’t part of the game.

Still, Nico was hot and could be worth the trouble.

Maybe.

“Then what is your problem?” She shrugged away from him and folded her arms. “Something set you off.”

“That asshole touching you and being a dick. That’s what set me off. He thinks he owns every female he comes in contact with and can treat them like shit. I’m sorry. I have a problem with that.” Nico’s whisper became strained.

“Then…thank you.” She rubbed her bare arms. She’d had to protect herself for so long that she forgot what if felt like to have someone step in. She wished she had on something more than a cocktail dress.

“I’ve also been trying all year to get you to talk to me. I’ve stayed out of trouble. Other than the rule about dating staff, what do you have against me?”

Billy stared at her. He’d heard of her legendary appetite for her costars. Did she want him? God knew he wanted her. He’d walked into the room with a damned hard on. Just thinking about Drea O’Neal kicked his blood pressure to the ceiling. He leaned on the doorframe of her dressing room. She hadn’t answered him yet—not in words—but the hunger in her eyes was undeniable.

“Do you have a problem with the lighting? I can change it to flatter your,” he swept his gaze over her body, “curves.” The robe obscured his view and he yearned to shove the damned thing out of the way. He refrained. Part of what he liked about Drea was definitely her looks, but the bigger part was the way she took control. He wanted her to pick him for her next conquest.

Drea stepped forward and hooked her fingers in the waistband of his jeans. She tugged him into the dressing room.

“You know what I want.” She nudged him onto her couch, then clicked the lock on the door. “You.” She raked her fingers down her chest to the knot in her robe, then untied the pesky sash. The deep blue satin slipped off her shoulders, revealing her ample curves inch by inch. “I want you to make me come three times before the shoot starts. Think you can manage? Or am I too much woman for you?”

“I’ll give you my best try.” His mouth watered. He’d seen plenty of her pictures and had a collection of her work on his computer, but none of that held a candle to the real woman. The cups of her corset top barely contained her breasts and the round outline of her nipples showed just below the lace. She strode toward him on spindly high heels, then settled on his lap. Oh Christ.

Billy slid his hand up her deep brown thighs, delighted by her soft skin. The tiny thong covered the thinnest strip of her pussy. She scooted forward and rubbed her damp cunt on the bulge in his pants.

“Do you like what you see?”

A Shimmer Story

M/M, Anal Sex

Contemporary

From MLR Press

MLR Press: https://www.mlrbooks.com/Bookstore.php?bookid=MSGIVEIN

Universal Link: https://books2read.com/u/mBeEZD

Mix two guys with simmering desire and add the new drink, Shimmer. What could go wrong?

Ronan’s been more than a little in love with Jaxon since they met four years ago. He wants a romantic relationship with his best friend, but they’re opposites. Jaxon’s bookish, quiet and observational, but Ronan’s the epitome of attention-seeking. Besides, Jaxon’s just out of a relationship. Would he want to start another love match, but this time with Ronan?

Jaxon knows how he feels about Ronan. He’d like to strip him down and kiss every tattooed and pierced inch of him. The thing is, he’s worried he’ll screw up the friendship if the romance fails.

The bar is closed for the night and there’s two shots of Shimmer left. So Shimmer creates a different sensation for each drinker. So it can cause unexpected results. It can’t make two guys on the verge of love fall for each other…can it?

Now for that Flirt!

©Megan Slayer, 2017, All Rights Reserved

“So there’s not much Shimmer left?”

“Like two shots at most.” He washed the rest of the glasses. “Did you want to try it?”

“Might as well. We’re supposed to push it. We should know what it tastes like and what it can do.” Ronan turned two of the ice-ball glasses over. “Fill ’er up. One for you and one for me. What do you

want to mix it with? I can’t remember half of the combinations.”

“What do you want to add? It’s your drink and your experience.” His hands shook. What the hell? He wasn’t a big drinker. Beer made him sick and the fruity drinks had too much sugar. For a guy who worked at a bar, he wasn’t much of an alcohol connoisseur.

“I’m going to mix mine with cola.” It worked with rum. Why not Shimmer?

“Hmm…I think…” Ronan picked up the soda hose. “Lemon-lime.” He poured the clear soda into one glass, then added cola to Jaxon’s. “You add the Shimmer.”

“Sure.” He poured the liquor into the glasses. “Ready?” He picked up his. “Should we toast?”

“Why not?” Ronan grinned. He licked his lips and screwed his face up as he seemed to consider what to say. “How about…to our health, friendship, and great sex. Bottoms up.”

Jaxon downed the drink and ignored the way Ronan’s words made him feel. Great sex. With him? He wasn’t sure. The booze burned on the way down. Shit. He should’ve asked someone how Shimmer and

cola made them react.

“Wow.” Ronan smacked his lips. “That’s awesome. It tingles.”

“The carbonation does that.” He finished his drink and turned away from Ronan. His brain buzzed—or was that the liquor? He wasn’t sure. Holy hell. Blood thrummed through his body. He shifted his hips. His cock throbbed. Was that the tightness of his jeans or the booze? Shimmer couldn’t be affecting him. Nah. He had control of himself.

“Hey, Jax?” Ronan gripped Jaxon’s shoulder. “Is this stuff supposed to make you hot?”

“Huh?” He turned around. “Like how? Is your tongue burning?”

“Kind of.” Ronan poured some more lemon-lime soda, then downed it. “Yeah, this isn’t making me hot.” He frowned. “Did anyone else order Shimmer the way I did?”

“I don’t know. Even if I remembered how it was ordered, I didn’t ask anyone.” Jaxon dropped his glass into the soapy water.

“Jaxon?”

He stared at his friend. “I’m the only other person in the bar. What?”

Ronan’s eyes widened. “I like you and want to fuck you.”

Writing and Music… My Blurred Reality Playlist @MeganSlayer #music #writing #contemporaryromance #romance #dfrkw

I wasn’t sure what to write about today so I thought I’d talk about my contribution to the Dallas Fire and Rescue Kindle World, Blurred Reality. In my novella, my hero is a musician and famous. The other hero? Not so much. To get into the headspace for their story of accidents, a crazy Labrador retriever and crazed fans plus romance… I had to have some tunes of my own to listen to and often. What’d I listen to?

Killpop by Slipknot – I love the sensuality and manicness of this song. It’s sexy, but a little unhinged. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhJh5_6MuCk)

It’s No Good by Depeche Mode – again, it’s sensual and made for getting in the mood to write the love scenes easier. Plus, the video is silly. I watched it as a stress-reliever. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aieEZ950d1I)

Sympathy for the Devil by Motorhead – this song seemed to fit a lot of the music the band Disaster Transport, the hero’s band, would play. I love this version because it’s gritty and Lemmy’s voice fits it so well. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bt4Xx3vX3Lg)

Goodbye Stranger by Supertramp – this song is a tad before my time, but I love it and it fit the story. Every time I heard it, I’d be jazzed to write more. It made those characters talk a ton!! (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZsV-rQ23bus)

In a Mist and Singin’ the Blues by Bix Beiderbecke and Frankie Traumbauer – these along with a few other jazz songs inspired the hero’s love of music and his desire to play more than just rollicking music. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ue9igC7flI)

Moonlight Serenade by Glenn Miller – another soft, romantic song that inspired the sensual scenes in Blurred Reality. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuVfmfaNupQ)

I Want You to Want Me by Cheap Trick – it’s a good, fast song that helped write the action scenes. Grin. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BJs_L7yq5qE)

I have more on the playlist. Some by Benny Goodman, a few by Duke Ellington, most of the Evans Blue albums and a few Beatles tunes.

I need music to write mostly because I can’t write with silence. It just doesn’t work. What about you? Do you like noise when you work? Or are you a silence kind of person? Let me know. J

Could the worst day of her life really be the best thing to ever happen to a girl?

Lacey Carmona loves the nightlife. Carefree and happy, she excels in her accounting job at her brother’s club, Club56. One night compromised by lies changes her whole life. Add in an overprotective older brother, and things are bound to get a whole lot worse. She’s not looking for a man, not even the one guy who embodies every one of her fantasies. She helped create the situation, and she’ll work it out—on her own. Too bad Chris Welch is so hard to resist.

Sometimes the best-laid plans need a little tweaking to make them something more irresistible.

Now for that Flirt!!

“I’m pregnant.” The words tumbled out too fast, and the tears slipped down her cheeks even faster. “Trip will kill me. He told me not to get involved with Tate, and he’s not going to let me live this down.”

“Because of an accident?” Chris stood at his full height, then wrapped both arms around her. “He’s not that much of an ass.”

“Have you met him? He’s so overprotective, it’s crazy.” She wiped her cheeks and gasped. From her head to her toes, she trembled. Nothing cut her deeper than having to talk to her brother.

“I’m pretty overprotective, too.” He tipped her chin, looking her in the eye. “I’ll help you.”

“Why? You’re my friend, sure, but you’ve got a girlfriend. Won’t Missy be upset?”

“Missy is my sister. You saw her here at the club because she wanted to dance and meet people. But mostly so I could keep an eye on her.” He rested his forehead on hers. “I’m not afraid of your brother. He’s big and loud, but he doesn’t scare me.”

“You’re nuts.” He had to be. They knew each other from the club and talked from time to time, but to jump in and help her during her time of need? Come on. “I’ll just tell Trip. What’s the worst he can do? Disown me?” She’d gotten herself into the predicament, she’d get herself out.

“People have called me all sorts of things, but that’s the first time someone called me nuts.” He rubbed her shoulders. “What do you want to do?”

“He’ll kill me. I’m the baby. I’m not allowed to screw up. If I tell him it’s Tate’s… At least he likes you.”

“Whatever you want to tell him, I’ll back you up. How about we’ve been dating for two months and we’ve had a happy accident?”

“You’d do that for me?”

“Lace, I already like you. Maybe this is our chance to see if this friendship we share is meant to be something more.”

“You’re a crazy knight in shining armor.” She threw her arms around his neck and squeezed him tight. Maybe they could be more.
