And a Hot Excerpt:

Smoke billowed around a charcoal-grey room. Light came from somewhere above him, but the only thing he noticed was her skin as she stepped out of the shadows. Felicity. White light shimmered on her pale skin as she tossed her thick hair over her shoulder and winked.

“John, I’ve missed you.”

He could jump right into this world and live forever. He ran across the room to where she sat and snagged her into an embrace. For a little while, Felicity was still alive and in his arms. He buried his face in her hair, breathing in her vanilla scent. The soft strands tickled his cheeks. He kissed the tender spot on her neck where it connected to her shoulder. She smoothed both hands up his chest and leant back in his arms. Felicity arched back over his forearms, giving him a delicious view of her breasts. She grabbed his shirt and slid up his body. “You should be naked. I want you.”

Hell, yeah. John untangled himself from her and ripped his shirt up over his head. He snorted. Getting naked in a dream always went so much smoother than in real life. He tossed the shirt out of sight and scooped her back into his arms.

“You’re wearing too much now, Sweets.”

Felicity snapped her fingers. The thin tank and jeans she’d been wearing disappeared, leaving her in nothing but a thong. “You were saying?”

John yanked her tight against him and raked his nails down her chest. Felicity shivered and leaned into his touch. She moved his palm to her breast.

“Pinch it.”

John rolled her nipple between his index finger and thumb. Felicity moaned and caressed the bulge in his pants. She rolled her hips and shifted her damp pussy over his thigh. “John, fuck me.” She clenched her teeth and tilted her head back. “So good. Harder. Mark me. Fuck.”

Holy hell. If she kept up grinding on him and talking dirty, he’d come in his pants. He glanced around the space they were in. Four walls and a bed. Perfect…if he had any idea where the room was located. He mentally shrugged and walked to the bed with her in his arms.

“Lay down.”

Felicity gave him a sideways smile and dipped her head once as she sat down on the edge of the mattress. John grabbed the thin band of elastic on her thong and pulled. The flimsy fabric gave way, leaving her bare. Felicity cupped her breasts and opened her legs.

“Beautiful.” He worked the button on his pants. Seeing her glistening pussy and smelling the sweet scent of her arousal got to him every time. He struggled with the zipper. “Fuck.”

“Yes, please.”

Damn button. John growled and wrenched the waistband of his jeans.

“Let me.” Felicity sat up and curled her fingers around his. “Slow down. We’ve got ages.” She wriggled her hips. “Make me remember. Make it last.”

A cool wind whipped up his spine. They didn’t have ages. They didn’t have any time. She was dead and he wasn’t. Felicity stared up at him with questions in her eyes.

“John?”

Matt locked up before he climbed behind the wheel of the car again. He loved living in a small town. Everything was close enough that he could either drive or walk to most places. Tonight, though, he was too tired to walk to the park. He gripped the steering wheel. Jesus. He’d reverted to talking to his dog like a best friend. He needed to get out more. Oh, well. At least the dog is loyal.

He drove to the dog park and tried to calm his mind. The men he knew weren’t loyal. Since he’d split from Colin, he hadn’t found a decent guy who wouldn’t cheat. First, Scott had come along with his wandering eyes, then Tom had followed suit. Tom had felt the need to spread himself around. Maybe Matt had been too choosy? Maybe he wasn’t pushy enough? Maybe he’d set himself up for failure? No one understood him the way Colin had. Would anyone else?

Matt parked in the lot. He had to face his ex. Even if Colin wasn’t there, eventually, he’d have to see him again. He might as well brace himself. He clicked Willie’s leash on his collar, then led him over to the fenced-in area. Once inside the park, he let Willie run. His head hurt. He hated being lonely, but he wasn’t ready to open his heart—not again.

Willie darted by with a white puff. Matt recognized the two pink bows in the dog’s fur. “Judy?” Damn it. He’d hoped that by running late, he’d miss Colin.

“Hi, you.” Colin strode up to Matt. “Seems those two have a radar set for each other.”

“Yeah.” He tensed. Seeing Colin brought up too many tough memories and too much hurt. He’d have to resign himself to being around his ex and his heart being broken each time.

“I brought you coffee.” Colin held up a paper cup. “I thought you might like a drink.”

He tossed the ball for Willie, then turned to Colin. “Thanks, I think.” He didn’t take the cup. “Won’t Mason be upset with you? Bringing me coffee…that’s awfully chummy.”

“No.” Colin offered the cup again. “Here. Take it.”

He complied but glanced about. “Where is Mason?”

“Probably at work.” Colin tipped his head. “I don’t care where he is. He’s not my problem.”

“What?” He knew Colin better than he’d thought and this wasn’t Colin. His ex wasn’t a cheater. “Do you and Mason have an open relationship?”

“Wow,” Colin said. “I didn’t expect you to ask that.”

“Why not? If I were your…person…and you brought coffee to your ex while I knew nothing, I’d be hurt. Won’t Mason be upset?” Matt asked.

“I don’t doubt he’ll be mad.” Colin stepped in close to Matt. “He hates your fucking guts.” His eyes flashed. “For real.”

Matt bit back a groan. He’d guessed Mason wasn’t his biggest fan, but to hate his guts? Lovely. Yet, here was Colin, close to him and grinning. No wonder Mason wasn’t thrilled. He didn’t have a rein on Colin. Matt hated himself. The closer Colin got, the more he wanted to kiss him. Now isn’t that fucked up?

EXCERPT:

“A beer and a real good fuck.”

Ian massaged his temples. He’d stared at the computer screen for far too long and his head ached. A cold beer and a hot woman would help ease his tension right about now. Beer to chill him out and the woman to take his mind off the numbers. He didn’t have either the booze or the girl, but the inventory still stared back at him from his computer screen. Lots of numbers, and each needed a place to go on his spreadsheets. He tallied the camera sales. He’d need to order a couple hundred more micro wireless cameras as well as the infrared home monitoring cameras and at least a thousand yards of cable. The numbers began to blur again, and he closed his eyes. Running the store made paying the bills a breeze, but sometimes he hated looking at surveillance equipment.

A vision formed behind his closed eyelids. The woman, curves where a woman should be curvy, black hair in fat curls dangling down her back, and not a stitch of clothing in sight, danced. The spotlight she moved in front of gave him the perfect outline of her body and a tantalizing hint of her identity. He’d know her anywhere. His mouth watered, and he longed to touch her. He slid down in his seat and thanked the Goddess the desk hid his erection. He cupped the bulge in his pants with both hands and stroked in time with her swaying.

Kaia Martin. His tiger roared from within. The moment he laid eyes on her, he and his animal knew she’d complete him. Whether she’d fit in with him and his brother … they’d figure that out soon enough. Better to tempt her with one tiger than to scare the living fuck out of her with both of them at the same time.

He rested his head on the back of his chair and continued to stroke himself. He needed to see her. The Glass Martini Gentlemen’s Club sucked in so many ways. Too much cigarette smoke, too many drunken men trying to paw the girls, and more than a couple of girls trying too hard to hit on the paying customers. He’d begged his sister, Sonya, not to work there, but being the wild card of the family, she ignored whatever he said. Then he met Kaia. Kaia served as the bright spot in his life.

But Kaia wanted to stay friends. The thought ripped him right out of his fantasy. Seeing her dance helped him temporarily quench his desire for her, but he’d never taken things to the next level. Not with Dade around. His tiger growled, and he opened his eyes. Warm orange light streaked across the buildings from the late-day sun. Thinking about a woman wouldn’t help him get his inventory finished, and it sure as hell wouldn’t get him to the Glass Martini any faster.

He sighed and refocused on his laptop screen. The urge to see his friend outweighed his need to finish the inventory. The moment they’d met came to mind. His sister insisted there was a girl at the club who would hit it off big time with both him and Evan. He scoffed, but went to the Glass Martini anyway with Evan in tow. Three years later, the friendship remained strong. But he wanted to take things further. His tiger wanted his mate.

His phone pinged, signaling an incoming text. Ian closed the laptop lid. Time to call the night a wash and find something better to do. He swiped his thumb across the phone screen to bring up the text. A picture filled the screen. Evan, his twin, grinned next to one of his abstract paintings. The caption underneath read SOLD ANOTHER ONE.

Ian grinned. Talk about being the same but complete opposites. Being identical twins, he and Evan shared the same broad build, same cropped blond hair, same blue eyes. But where Ian excelled at computers and wiring, Evan got off on painting. Ian never understood what Evan saw in the streaked combinations of colors. He claimed each painting meant something. Hell if Ian knew what, but he didn’t care. Evan followed his heart. That’s what mattered and made him a good living. He’d already sold four works at about two thousand dollars each. Not bad for what most people would call a hobby.

Ian pressed the keys to send a return message. Proud of you. Another one this month and you’ll break 10k in sales. Awesome. Need a ride to the Glass Martini? Within seconds the reply message popped onto the screen. You bet.

Good enough for Ian. He opened the laptop long enough to shut the device down and then gathered his papers and phone. He’d work on more inventory shit later. Purplish light highlighted the tree line behind Davis Electronics. He breathed in the scent of barbeque from the Jerky House restaurant down the street. His stomach gurgled and his tiger moaned. When had he eaten last? He couldn’t remember. Damned work anyway.

He climbed into his truck and sped across town. The buildings lining Belden Valley’s main drag loomed in the blue twilight. He knew the streets by heart. Growing up in a mid-sized city offered the comfort of knowing most everyone around, while also being diverse. The neon lights of the Gladstone Gallery reflected off his hood when he pulled into one of the parking spots. The gallery once served as the theater in town. When the strip malls had sprung up on the outskirts of town, the movie theater followed. Thankfully, the Gladstone Group, a hodgepodge of local artists and crafters, worked to save the intricate building.

“Thought maybe you fell asleep at the store.” Evan yanked the truck door open and then plopped onto the seat beside his brother. “Did you like that text?” His grin spread from ear to ear.

“I did and I’m proud of you.” Ian clapped his brother on the shoulder. “You’re making progress. A couple more sales of your work, and I’ll have to get tickets to visit you, you’ll be so famous.” He pulled away from the curb and sped toward the Glass Martini.

“Nah.” Evan raked his fingers through his hair. “Sonya called, then Kaia texted. Seems you and I might want to be at the Glass Martini tonight for more than to just watch the dances.”

Ian’s heart skipped a beat and his tiger perked. “Oh yeah?”

“I don’t know what Kaia’s news is, but she says she’s got some, and according to our sister, it’s really big news.” Evan drummed his fingers on the open window frame of the truck. “You don’t suppose she dumped Dade, do you? My tiger’s been on edge for the last six months.”

“My tiger’s been watching her too.” Ian settled into his seat as they drove past the massive Belden High School and the Greater Federal Bank building. He’d wanted to say something to Evan before, but never found the right time. No more waiting. “It’s hard to watch her, isn’t it? I want to comfort her, but I don’t think it’s time yet.”

He waited a heartbeat for Evan’s response. Their true mate would call to both of them, not just one of them. The tigers would know, but was she the mate they needed?

“Besides the fact Dade is an asshole and I thought she could do better than to even look at him, yeah. My tiger goes ape shit when she’s around. It’s been hard as fuck not to touch her or say something about wanting her. I’m trying to be her friend, but lately I want more. You?”

Relief washed through Ian. He’d never been one to show his feelings, but with Evan things were different. They understood each other beyond even a twin level. “My tiger wants her too.”

He pulled to a stop in the parking lot in front of the Glass Martini and measured his words. “We’ve got a problem.”

“We’re tigers and that scares most women off.” Evan turned in his seat, facing Ian. “Top that off with the both of us wanting her, and yeah, we’ve got a snowball’s chance in hell that Kaia will want us.” He folded his arms. “I say let her choose. If she picks you, then cool. I know she’ll be treated with dignity. Really, I hope she chooses the both of us.”

Not exactly what he expected his brother to say. Ian frowned, despite his tiger purring in his chest. “I’m guessing she’ll want you. You talk more, but yeah, I’d like her to pick both of us too.”

“I know.” Evan sighed. “What if she’s ready to tell us something else? Anything is possible.”

“She said he beat the shit out of her, but that’s been almost two months ago. Remember? We intervened and fixed the issue. He hasn’t laid a hand on her since.” Ian’s tiger roared. No one hurt his mate, even if she wasn’t his—yet.

“We’ve got to brace for anything and get the hell out of this truck. She’s waiting.” He nodded to the door where their sister, Sonya, stood. She’d cocked one hip and flipped her long blonde hair over her shoulder. Even from a distance, her giddiness rolled off her in waves.

Ian stuck out his hand to his twin. “May the best man win.”

“Yeah,” Evan said with a grin, “both of us.”

EXCERPT:

Simon stood and whisked her off the chaise lounge. She’d walked out of his life before and without much explanation. Part of him wanted her to rebuke him, but the rest of him craved her. Elysa Green affected him much like the chocolate—one taste wasn’t enough.

“Finish the shoot, then we can play.” He placed the square of chocolate on her tongue. “We’ve got all night.”

Her eyes rolled back in her head and she moaned again. She chewed in deliberate motions, licking her lips. Her cheeks infused with a beautiful shade of pink.

“Don’t know if I can wait that long.”

“You will.” He wrapped one arm around her. “Remember our games?”

“How could I forget?” Her blush deepened.

“The other half of the shoot involves the games we played and showcasing the more decadent, sexual side of my chocolate business. I’m just watching—you’re modelling the items.” He rubbed his cock between her thighs, reminding her how much he wanted her. “All of them.”

Elysa opened her mouth, but instead of saying anything she rose up on her toes and kissed him. The connection seared him to the core. A touch of the chocolate remained on her lips. He curled his other arm around her waist and smoothed his left hand up to the base of her neck. Elysa moaned and writhed against his chest. Yes, this was what he missed. She came alive in his embrace and pushed him to want more from her. He threaded his fingers into her hair and tugged, breaking the kiss and exposing her neck to his appraisal.

“Whatever you want from me, I’m yours,” she murmured. Her skirt shifted high on her hips, exposing her ass and the tiny thong she wore.

“Fuck.” Simon walked her backwards to the chaise and eased her onto the butter soft leather surface. Her hair fanned out around her face like a caramel wave and she puckered her kiss swollen lips. He didn’t bother to move the skirt, but rather shifted the panties aside. Her scent, flowery perfume and musk drifted up to him. His mouth watered.

“Take me, Simon.”  She opened her legs and dragged two fingers down her pussy lips. Her juices glittered in the harsh lighting.

He shouldn’t want her. Shouldn’t fuck her in the middle of a photo shoot, but holy shit. He’d been refused for too long.

Behind him a door opened and closed. “I somehow figured I’d find you in this position.”

Simon knew that voice. Paolo. Elysa’s eyes widened and she pushed her clothes back into place. Simon glanced over his shoulder, then scooted in front of her to hide what was left of her modesty. “Paolo.”

“Thanks for coming on a short notice. We were waiting on you.” The one photographer Simon trusted to created the perfect images of Elysa nude and drizzled in chocolate—Paolo. The other photographer might have worked, but he wanted the guaranteed best.

“And in heat.” Paolo dropped his shoulder bag onto the desk. “And Simon, you know I’ve done it all. Nothing shocks me, honey, I’ve seen it all. Now who is getting naked and what naughty chocolates are we photographing for the catalogue?”

Daniel didn’t quite look at him when he soaked the sponge. He bit the corner of his mouth and twisted the sponge in his long fingers. “What happened to Joseph? If you’re here and he’s not. You two really split, right?”

“I don’t want to talk about Joe or my being alone for a month.” Kelsey chucked his rag into the water. He dragged a ragged breath into his lungs and swept his gaze over Daniel once more. His cock reacted and pressed tight into his zipper. The music sloshed in his brain. He’d avoided Daniel for too long and his physical desire won out. He wanted Daniel. Wanted not to have to think about why they’d parted and how much he still loved his former partner. He wiped his hands on his jeans.

“You don’t want to talk, eh?” Daniel dropped his sponge. He stalked across the room to where Kelsey stood. “Tell me what you want instead.”

“You.” Kelsey walked Daniel backwards to the wall. Groin to groin, he pinned Daniel tight. He mashed his lips to Daniel’s, taking control of the kiss right away.

Beneath him, Daniel whimpered and opened. He tangled his tongue with Kelsey’s and groaned.  Kelsey grabbed the hem of Daniel’s T-shirt, then stroked the expanse of Daniel’s chest. He flicked his thumbs over Daniel’s nipples.

“Oh, God,” Daniel said, breaking the kiss. His hot breath feathered over Kelsey’s skin. “Take me. Right now. Don’t care.”

“On your knees.” Kelsey backed up, giving Daniel room to move. Even though five years had passed, the chemistry remained. “Get me nice and wet.”

Daniel dropped to his knees and popped the fly on Kelsey’s pants. He fixed his gaze on Kelsey and grabbed the belt loops. Bright sunlight shone around him, framing Daniel’s hair and giving him the look of an angel. Kelsey knew better. When Daniel wanted to be devilish, no one could stop him. He freed Kelsey’s cock and tapped the blunt head against his cheeks.

“Missed this,” Daniel panted. He rubbed his face on Kelsey’s groin. “Missed you.”

Find the other Evernighties posts on twitter and facebook under the hashtag #evernighties

I have to admit, this week’s prompt is rather tough. Why? I’m on social media often, but I don’t live and die by it. I don’t. I’ve joined social media platforms that poofed (anyone remember Infield Parking? Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s attempt at NASCAR social media?) I’ve been on those that never really worked out (RIP MySpace).

So which platform is my favorite?

Uh…. To be honest, none of them. I’d rather be reading or writing than futzing around on social media. But that’s the quick and dirty answer.

Which one is my favorite? I have to say for images, Instagram. I like being able to flip through and see the various animal pictures. Does it help my author brand?  I don’t know, but it’s fun to have a place to post pix of my dogs and cats. I haven’t figured out how to use Instagram on my laptop, so there’s that.

I rather like Facebook, too. It’s not my favorite, but I like that I can talk to many friends and fans that I wouldn’t otherwise be able to speak to because we live in different places. I can post about books and I have my own page. Twitter is okay, but I have yet to figure out the right hashtags.

What about you? Which platforms do you like the best? Maybe I’ll head there.

Look for the other Blogging Challenge posts right here: http://www.longandshortreviews.com/

This week’s challenge prompt has to do with my favorite TV shows and why. Oh boy. Here we go. It’s going to be a list.

Law & Order – First, Det. Lenny Briscoe always made me laugh. I knew he was a damaged character, but I loved him. Then there’s Det. Mike Logan (swoon), plus DA Jack McCoy and Det. Cyrus Lupo. I knew when I heard that dunk-dunk noise, I had to pay attention. To this day, if Law & Order is on, I have to watch. I can’t wander in and wander out.

M*A*S*H – I vaguely remember watching this when it was on and current. Vaguely. I do remember my parents watching the finale and crying. I can’t get through the finale or Henry’s final episode without tears.  Col. Henry Blake is a trip and I love the episodes he’s in.

Constantine – First, I have to admit, I wandered into this show because I wandered into the panel discussion with Matt Ryan (Constantine) at our local Comic Con. He was fascinating, funny and handsome. So…I checked out the show. His sense of dark humor and ability to be a hero who is anti-hero, too was a draw. I even started watching Legends of Tomorrow because he had a cross-plotline on the show. I’m bummed as heck that Constantine was cancelled without a proper ending.

Jessica Jones – She kicks butt and takes names. She does what she wants. Oh and Killgrave was a riot. Really.

Autopsy: The Last Hours of… – I don’t know why these shows with true stories and biographies of famous people draw me in, but they do. I think it’s because I learn something.

Rock Legends – Again, I’m learning about a particular band or artist and it’s fun to learn new stuff.

The Will: Family Secrets Revealed – this show deals with the dirty and usually nasty details of the wills of famous people. Doris Duke, Hank Williams,  Etta James, Tammy Wynette and more.

Breaking the Band – again, it’s a learning thing. This time about how famous bands fell apart.

Too Young to Die – Celebrities that left us too fast and too young. Why, how and what might have changed if they’d stuck around.

What about you? What shows do you like to watch? Share! I need new binge-worthy stuff.
