Brandon Kidd thought he’d overcome his demons. He thought he’d conquered his addiction to booze and his need to be promiscuous. He thought he’d left his depression behind. Why? He met and started dating Aydin, the man who stoked his muse. But the depression and his insecurity have come back, and he’s also got to pass his annual review for his fine arts program. He’s got to get through the grueling review, open up to Aydin and have the Valentine’s Day he deserves?

Aydin loves Brandon. He sees the changes in his boyfriend and wants to help, but how do you help when you don’t know the problem exactly? To compound the problem, Brandon’s brother, Benson, has started causing trouble. Benson doesn’t want his brother to be gay, let alone in a relationship. Aydin found the strength to admit he wanted to be with Brandon. Aydin’s come into his own. Will he be enough for Brandon or will the crushing outside influence be too much to overcome?

They’ve come together for Valentine’s Day, but can the romance last?

Valentines and Hunky Guys ~ Modern Actors List with @meganslayer #hunks #hotties #list #valentines #sexy

BigPinkHeart 12Today I’m featuring my favorite modern day actors. Yes, hunks for today. I know beauty fades and tomorrow they might be haggard, but oh well. I’ll be wrinkly one day, too! Haha!

I’m expecting you to disagree or to have others to add to the list. Absolutely. Who knows. There might be a few I forgot or ones I hadn’t considered. Bring it on!!

Here’s my list. Grin. Oh, and in no particular order.

Colin O’Donoghue – I mean, he’s Captain Hook. I’d rather him stay the grouchy Hook, but you can’t have everything.

Matt Bomer – I’m not a fan of Magic Mike, but he had the moves. Yeah. And I loved the way he played the reporter in A Normal Heart. Tugged at my heart.

Matt Barr – I never watched the teen shows he was on, but I noticed him on the Hatfields and McCoys show. He wasn’t the brightest character, but there was a sweetness to him. Oh, and he looks great without his shirt.

Don Cheadle – he’s War Machine. Enough said. But also, he’s a good equal for Tony Stark. Plus, he looks great in that suit. I loved him in Reign Over Me.

Chris Pratt – he’s a dinosaur whisperer, likes gross things, laughs at himself, was just as handsome thick as thin, he’s genuine and funny as heck. Oh and he talks to raccoons.

Anthony Mackie – I saw him in person at a comic con and he’s genuine, too. He’s funny, blunt and plus he looks great in that Falcon suit. I love his voice and that smile. Yeah, he makes me melt.

James McAvoy – he first came onto my radar as Professor X. I’d seen him on promos for movies, but hadn’t really paid much attention. I mean, he was there, but I hadn’t really paid attention. Sad, really. Then I saw the X-Men First Class movie. Holy cow. What had I been missing? I had to watch the rest of the movies he’d been in. I loved The Conspirator, even though he doesn’t have his accent and it’s a depressing movie. I love when he’s super serious, when he’s funny and especially when he talks. I said he could read the phone book and I’d be there. I would.

Chris Evans – He’s Captain America. He’s a riot. He’s got his own thoughts. He speaks his mind. He’s got a great butt. I liked him as a jerk in Puncture and The Iceman, but just as much in What’s Your Number? and as Captain America. He commands the screen and can laugh at himself. How can I ask for more? He’s drool-worthy.

So who would be on your list? I’ve featured the Old Hollywood stars on other lists, but this is Valentine’s Day (Leading up to it) and I want to swoon. Who would you add?

Valentines and Hunky Guys… A List with @meganslayer #hunks #hotties #valentines #musicians

BigPinkHeart 12

I’ve been watching way too much of the Monkees lately and thinking about Valentine’s Day. I have a confession to make. I’m a sucker for at least one of the Monkees. I’ve loved them since I can remember. But this post isn’t just about my love for an oldies (Makes me gasp to say that) band… it’s about those guys who always make me smile. It’s a simple list and don’t laugh. I already know I’m a big dork and this will be an eclectic list.

So to count down to Valentine’s Day on Wednesday…here’s my list (there will be a new list tomorrow):

Daryl Hall from Hall and Oates – I want him to sing to me. IMHO, he’s aged well, too. I’ve always loved Out of Touch. In fact, I’m listening to it right now. And yes, I realize the guy is over 70.

Bryan Adams – again, the guy can sing to me. Not the Robin Hood song, but the rock ones. He got a tad rough with age, but he always had that rugged look about him. Heat of the Night will always be one of my favorites. That and Please Forgive Me.

Peter Tork from the Monkees – he can give me that goofy smile and sweetness any day.  He’s the only one I know who can wear a leopard skin suit, then change into peace beads and flowy shirts with leather, then a business suit and look good each time. He could be the pinnacle of hippie-dom, then classy and dressed up and never miss a beat.

Huey Lewis from Huey Lewis and the News – hey, the guy was big when I was a kid and I thought he was cool because he was in the Back to the Future movies. My friends and I would pretend we were ‘married’ to various musicians. Now this was before the New Kids explosion. I always either got Daryl Hall or Huey Lewis. Don’t ask me why. I don’t even remember who else was on the list for us to choose from.

Jordan Knight from New Kids on the Block – he’s the first and only celebrity I ever sent a Valentine. I decorated my Valentine’s Day box one year with New Kids pictures. Back in the day, I actually thought he’d reply to my letter. I was wrong.

Billy Joel in the 80s – yes, I thought he was handsome when he finally got a decent haircut. He writes music for the chicks in his life. Yeah, sign me up.

George Harrison and Paul McCartney from the Beatles – I was raised in a household where my folks played music, most of the time on LP. I was weaned on the greats like the Beatles from a young age. I always thought Paul was dreamy, but had a soft spot for George because, even as a teen, I thought he was misunderstood.

I told you this would be a strange list. I’m guessing you’ve probably got a few you’d rather forget, even if they were once on your hottie list. Let me know. I’m game.

My post is about Valentine’s Day and my favorite gift. I’d never been one to go for the whole Valentine thing. I hated the time-honored school tradition of sending carnations to someone I thought deserved one. I kind of wanted to keep the flowers for myself because I thought they were pretty.

So the first Valentine’s Day I had someone to give something to…I had no idea what to give him. Honestly. None. He wasn’t a flower kind of guy. Wasn’t a candy one, either. So what’s a girl to do? I panicked. I did. I made him a card, which was neat and from the heart. I still thought I’d given him the shaft. But in return, he gave me a balloon with a bear inside. Now that might not sound all that exciting, but for a girl who’d never received a Valentine…it’s still my favorite. I have the bear still (19 years later!). It’s my favorite Valentine because it was the first and because he’d put a lot of thought into finding it. Oh, and there was a beautiful ring attached to the ribbons (go figure, I didn’t see the ring right away and felt silly once I did, but no it wasn’t an engagement ring). How could I not love it?

This year I got mixed up as to how many years it had been since our first Valentine’s Day. For whatever reason, I thought it was twenty years, so I had this brilliant idea to find one of those balloons for DH. I did get him one. Instead of a bear, it’s got a giraffe in it, but it’s still cute and sweet. There isn’t a ring, but that’s okay. He’s not much of a jewelry kind of guy. Still. I hope he likes it.
