“Chrissy swore I spent more time here than at home, so I brought my favorite couch from home and added the mini fridge. I have formal meetings downstairs in the main Flash offices. I like having the two distinct places. One for me and one for the public.” He nodded to the last frame. “We’ll get Ethan up here, sooner or later. All of you boys made it onto my wall of fame.”

With Ethan’s luck? Probably later. Sam nodded. “That’s the plan.” Always the diplomatic one. “You’re going to put him in the second truck, come Eldora, right?”

“That’s the plan. I’m sure you heard the rumor. I put Corey on as his crew chief so you can work with Adam on the dirt trucks. You’re my best guy for specialty tracks.” Just as fast as he’d walked to Sam’s side, Collin strode to the fridge and grabbed two bottles of beer. “She’s cold and goes down a little too smooth.” He chuckled. “These are the last two, I guess. Well, unless they come back this year and offer to sponsor the second half of the season. I’m oping they do. We can use the funds.” He untucked his dress shirt and used the tail to open the bottle, then handed the beer to Sam. “Enjoy.”

“Thank you.” Sam tipped the bottle for a long swig, then smacked his lips. “Sorry. Bad habit.”

“Enjoying a good brew? Never.” Collin sat down on the middle of the sofa. “Join me.”

“Thanks, Sir.” Sam perched on the edge of the plush leather. Don’t take too many liberties, he reminded himself. He worked for Collin, not screwed around with him. Besides, Collin had noticed him—best guy for specialty races. Not too shabby.

“You don’t have to call me Sir. Collin works. Sit back, relax.” Collin propped his right ankle on his left knee and rested his bottle on his right knee. “Other than the young gun being quick on the trigger, how are things on the team? You’re happy?”

“Very.” Sam eased backwards on the couch until he rested in the crook of the back and arm. “Ethan’s strong-willed, but once he gets himself sorted out, you’re right, he’ll come around. I see big things for him.”

“What about you? You’re here late. The wifey isn’t upset?” Collin downed a swig of the beer. “Wait, no, you’re one of the lucky single souls. I envy you.”

“Me?” Sam choked on his brew. “Not a chance.” He snorted, then coughed. “I seem to attract guys who want a one night or a quickie with my driver friends. Use me to get to him. Sucks. And for the longest time, I actually believed a couple of them loved me.”

“Put the bags in the trunk.” She stood tall and slid the scarf from around her throat. “I need you to do something for me.”

“I liked the scarf where it was. Might want to use it on you later.” He slammed the trunk lid. “I can see the wheels turning in your head. What are you thinking?”

“Wrists.” Curt, brusque and to the point. “Now.”

Eric stared at her for a moment, his mouth opening and closing with no sound coming out. His gaze darted around, but he offered his hands.

“Good boy.” Her hunch had paid off. His inner submissive wanted to play, and had won out against his alpha needs. She wrapped the silk around his wrists. “You please me.”

“Janine, what are you doing? I wanted to do this to you, not me.” His voice dropped to a whisper. “I please you? Does that mean you think I’m sexy?”

She threaded her arms around his neck, rubbing her groin over his bound hands. “I,” she said between kisses, “am in control of what we do.” She feasted on his lips, licking his bottom lip and swiping her tongue over his teeth. The tastes of mint and cola exploded on her tongue. She ground against him, pleasuring herself against his thick fingers. “And I want to do you right here, right now, sexy man.”

Eric moaned and she backed away. Confusion burned in his eyes and colour filled his cheeks. Instead of giving him the lead, she reached forward and unzipped him. Red dusted his face and the tops of his ears.

“You’re not worried someone will see us?” he asked in a hushed tone.

“I’m not.” She pushed his jeans aside enough to stroke his cock through his boxer briefs. “They can’t see behind the car and, if you keep quiet, we won’t draw attention.” She worked his dick through the opening in his underwear and smeared her thumb through the pre-cum glistening on the tip of his cock. “Right now, you’re in my hands and my control. You will do what I ask of you.”

He stared at her, but didn’t tell her to stop.

“No coming until I tell you.” She nodded to the back seat. “Lie down.”

Eric glanced behind her, then got out of the way as she opened the door. He fixed his gaze on her and sat down on the edge of the upholstered seat.

Janine gave him a gentle push and eyeballed her work. “Very nice.” She inched the hem of her skirt high enough to give him a tantalising view of her panty-covered pussy. His mouth opened a fraction of an inch and his eyes glazed as she hooked her thumbs into the flimsy waistband of the undergarment.

“You like what you see?”

Mallory stilled his hand. “I saw you race. You did well.”

Her touch sparked the feelings he’d long since buried. So much for getting over her. “I had motivation.” Her picture in his pocket and the memories of her on his heart.

Her cheeks paled and her eyes widened. “Motivation?” Her brows knotted. “I see.” She straightened her blouse. “Well, good luck tonight.”

Blaine took a step back. Something happened between them, but fuck if he understood what. “Don’t tell me you came here for small talk. You hate making conversation for the sake of wasting time. What’s going on?” He touched her cheek. “You aren’t even smiling. What’s wrong?”

Her shoulders sagged and a tear slipped down her cheek. The old feelings rushed back into his heart. The longing, the need, wanting to fuck her until she screamed–God, he had it bad for her. He gathered her into his arms and stroked her hair. “Tell me who hurt you. I’ll make it right.”

Mallory stared up at him. “No one hurt me.” She wiped her face with the back of her hand, smearing her mascara. Instead of scrambling for a tissue to fix the damage, she continued staring at him. “I had a plan when I came here. And now it’s all fucked up. I lost my nerve.”

“Oh?” He brushed a lock of her hair off her forehead. “Why is that? What was your plan?”

“This.” She threaded her arms around his neck and bounced on her toes to meet him for a kiss.

The blood rushed from his brain to his groin. He closed his eyes. She still tasted like honey and lemon. He swept his tongue over her lips and moaned when she gave him passage. He tangled his tongue with hers and held her tight to his chest. So soft and strong in his arms. Her light whimpers and the scratch of her nails on his back added to his pleasure. He drifted away, lost in the kiss, drunk on her and in total bliss. If he had more time, he’d throw her over his shoulder and take her into the camper bay of the hauler to have his way with her.

“Thought I’d find you here.”

Blaine opened his eyes. Mallory hadn’t broken the kiss. She mirrored his surprise. She slipped away from him and swiped her tongue across her bottom lip. Blaine held onto her and turned his attention to the interloper.

Well, shit.

“Damn it, Fortney locked his brakes again. So what are we going to do about a driver?” Adam knew the story well without knowing every the detail. Kennedy Taggart ran the biggest racing empire with the best winning percentage. All the drivers wanted to nab spots with her teams—including Gavin. “Tell me you have a good replacement. One that just sort of showed up or something? I know you. You’ve always got an ace up your sleeve.”

The last time Adam checked, the drivers haunting pit road in search of a job were about two. One wanted to make his great comeback after his third concussion and another owned the reputation for crashing after twenty or so laps. Not a good batch. At least, they were in Charlotte. If the team hustled, they might be able to nab one of the local drivers. Maybe.

“Well, that’s why I came down here, my friend. You’re right.”Collin smiled then waved at something behind Adam. “I’ve solved our problem. This is Will Camden. Remember him?”

Remember him? Adam choked back the snappy retort. A scar was hard to forget. For him, Will was that scar. Saying they shared a messy history was an understatement. Adam grabbed the bill of his hat then tugged the hat tighter down on his head.

Will, dressed in a crisp white polo shirt, ambled up to where Collin stood. A wide grin spread across his face, and his sapphire eyes still featured the bright sparkle Adam remembered so well. He’d be a good match as the next Flash driver, but damn. Why’d the past always have to come back and bite Adam in the ass?

“We’ve met.” Adam stuck out his hand. “Welcome to Flash.”

“My pleasure.” Will squeezed Adam’s hand, and the touch lingered a bit longer than Adam wanted.

Adam’s heart lodged in his throat. Being around Will would be fine on track, but they’d have to spend time together outside of the track. Then things would get sticky—and fast. Damned history between them anyway.

“He walked down pit road at the exact same time Gavin quit. I think it’s a sign.” Collin folded his arms. “And I think this is a good time for you two to patch things up.” He winked at Adam. “Will, the uniforms are in the hauler. Gavin’s about your size so they should fit. Get changed and I’ll have Adam get your seat ready.”

“You got it.” Will ducked behind Collin and into the truck hauler.

Adam waited a heartbeat then groaned. “Patch things up? Seriously? What did he tell you?”

Collin snorted. “He didn’t say a word. It’s you.” He leaned one shoulder on the hauler wall. “The moment I mentioned his name, you shut down. Anyone can see there was something between you. I assumed I was right, and I was. You and Will had a thing.”

“He’s a hothead. Dangerous on the track. Crashed out at Loudon.” Adam knelt next to the tool cart and busied himself with arranging the sockets in one of the drawers.

“Are you scared?” Collin nudged the drawer shut with the toe of his loafer. “Truth.” For being forty-two, the guy looked more like thirty-two with all the time he’d spent in the gym. The salt-and-pepper streaks in his chocolate-brown hair were the only giveaways to his true age. They could talk like brothers and understood each other like good friends. And yet, Collin knew how to drive Adam berserk with his ability to sniff out the truth.

Damn it. Adam rested one knee on the ground. “It’s kind of like the cannon fireworks. The things are dangerous as hell, but they’re beautiful. And if you’re not careful, you’ll get burned. That’s what we were.”

“I saw you work together three years ago at Bristol. You helped him win the race. That’s the kind of magic I want.”

EXCERPT:

A knock at the door startled Royce from his thoughts. “Fuck,” he muttered. “Come on in.”

Ethan strode up the stairs, a huge duffle bag in hand and a knapsack slung over his shoulder. “Do you think Collin’s interested in me?”

Royce pressed his lips together. Not the question he’d expected from Ethan.

“Wait, I mean, as a second, fulltime truck driver? I know he’s all up Sam’s ass.” Ethan dropped the bags. “I’m screwing this all up.” He paced the length of the living room area. “I’d love to know I’m secure for next year.”

Okay, the hot and cold shit had to stop. Royce grabbed Ethan by the shoulders. “First, you need to calm down and breathe.” He inched Ethan onto the couch then took a step back. “The only one contracted for next year is Will.”

“‘Cause he’s the golden boy,” Ethan snapped.

Ah, the youth in Ethan reared its ugly head.

“No,” Royce bit out. “He’s settled down and steady.”

“He’s leading the points. Everyone wants him right now.”

Mother of all things holy, Royce would never make it back to North Carolina with Ethan at this rate. “Look, he’s got no ‘did not finishes’ this year. You’ve got two. Both your trucks this week are toast because you used them as battering rams.” Royce’s voice cracked and echoed off the walls. “You need to pull your head out of your ass and settle down or plan on not having a ride next year. Plain and simple.”

“Royce?”

“You’re only hot shit until the next wonder kid comes along. Prove why you’ve got staying power so Collin will have to keep you around.” Royce gasped for breath. Few people

worked him up to the point of yelling. Ethan had made the short list. Royce shoved both hands into his hair. “Maybe no one has ever told you no, but I will. Stop being a shit so you can do what you love.”

Ethan didn’t say anything for the longest time. He stared toward the floor and shuffled his boot-clad feet.

“Thanks,” Ethan mumbled. “Collin told me we needed to hang out more. Said you’d be able to sell my crap better if you got to know me. Sounds like you already do.”

Before Royce could respond, Ethan met his gaze and grinned. “Now, do you want to fuck?”

“You can’t be serious.” So much for the emotional breakthrough Royce had expected.

“I can be, and I am.” The grin widened. Ethan winked then headed to the back of the motor coach. “And you can’t knock a guy for trying. Now, where do we sleep while this sucker’s in motion? Ooh! Bunks. Top one’s mine.”

Royce groaned. Dear Lord, this would be a long ride.

Collin Marshall, owner of Flash Racing hadn’t planned on jumping back into the dating pool. He’s been burned one too many times by guys only wanting his money and relative fame. But even the boss gets the blues, and there’s one man he’d like to get to know a whole lot better–Sam Richmond.

Sam Richmond loves his job at Flash. Chief mechanic for both truck teams is a sweet job. Having Collin as eye candy? Even better. When a shipment of parts derails the team’s finishes at Iowa, it’s up to Sam to work with Collin to find a solution. Spending time with Collin forces Sam to see his boss in a new light–a sexy, dominant light.

Can these two continue running hot in and out of bed, or will their differences get the best of them?

Well, shit.

You Win Some…You Lose Some by @meganslayer #racing #randomthoughts

1024px-Dan_Wheldon_2011_Indy_500 1

I’m going to start this post by noting the photo above isn’t a NASCAR racer. It’s an Indy Car. It’s Dan Wheldon’s car.  I used his image because he could be a very polarizing guy. Most either liked or hated him. I tended to like him. Why? He was my age. Note, I said was. He passed away in a wreck at the Las Vegas Speedway. I know. I saw it live. It messed with my head. It did. This person, so full of life and bluster wasn’t full of life any longer. Someone so young…

Which brings me to the race today. The Daytona 500. I used to watch NASCAR religiously. I loved the roar of the engines, the thrill of the race and the excitement of who could win.

I’ve always had those drivers I don’t particularly like and those I do. I started out as a Rusty Wallace fan–even named my cat after him–because he drove a blue car. He was a villain for a while. Then when he retired, I moved to Dave Blaney. I took hell because he wasn’t very good. Turns out he’s better on dirt, but that’s another story. Then when he lost his ride to Clint Bowyer, I moved to him. Then he became a villain, too. Once he moved to Toyota…I went with my second choice, Austin Dillon.

Now, I’ve been a fan of his since he was racing dirt cars, so for over ten years. I liked him because I thought he and his family had class. But it appears by winning the Daytona 500, he’s become a villain.

Here’s the thing…whether they cheat (Bowyer, suspected) (Dillon, punting Almirola), stink (Blaney, depending on whom you ask), or are just plain jerks (Any driver on any given day – you don’t know what they’ve been through that day and we all have our off days), they’re still human. They want to win. Wheldon wanted to win and rode the edge…a lot. Bowyer was suspected of wrecking to help a teammate get into the playoffs thing NASCAR is doing.

Then there’s Dillon. The guy doesn’t seem to do much right. He’s rich and came from a racing family, so he’s been given everything. Um… so was Earnhardt Jr. So was Elliott. He won by wrecking Almirola. It’s the Daytona 500. Lots of people bump and dump–otherwise there wouldn’t be a catch-phrase for it. You can hate him. You can say he didn’t earn that win. Um…lots of drivers don’t lead a lap, but win. Lots of drivers wreck the other guys so they can win. I hold up Kyle Busch as a prime example. He’s been known to dump anyone he likes just to win. He’s a villain.

Then there’s the point that this was the 20th anniversary of Earnhardt’s win. Guess what? A 3 winning again is pretty cool. Don’t like him? Then don’t. But the coincidence is neat. I’d like to think Earnhardt had his hand on Dillon kind of pushing him along. Oh, and before you have a fit…Earnhardt bumped and dumped a lot. I think he got a water bottle or two thrown at him because of his on-track antics.

NASCAR needs villains. It needs heroes. It needs drivers to be themselves. I don’t like all of them, but I like some of them. I don’t wish ill on them. I like to see the underdog win (and yes, Dillon was an underdog.) I like seeing a little variety.

Don’t hate me because of my favorite driver. Don’t hate me because I have my opinions. That’s what makes our country great. We all have our ideas and opinions. We’re free to express them. I know I won’t have changed your mind and that’s okay. I wasn’t out to change it. I’m just stating my thoughts.

So, yay #3, Austin Dillon. You’ve won the 60th Daytona 500 and that’s pretty freaking awesome. Oh and RIP Dan Wheldon. You put on a damn good race. ❤
