And a Hot Excerpt:

Smoke billowed around a charcoal-grey room. Light came from somewhere above him, but the only thing he noticed was her skin as she stepped out of the shadows. Felicity. White light shimmered on her pale skin as she tossed her thick hair over her shoulder and winked.

“John, I’ve missed you.”

He could jump right into this world and live forever. He ran across the room to where she sat and snagged her into an embrace. For a little while, Felicity was still alive and in his arms. He buried his face in her hair, breathing in her vanilla scent. The soft strands tickled his cheeks. He kissed the tender spot on her neck where it connected to her shoulder. She smoothed both hands up his chest and leant back in his arms. Felicity arched back over his forearms, giving him a delicious view of her breasts. She grabbed his shirt and slid up his body. “You should be naked. I want you.”

Hell, yeah. John untangled himself from her and ripped his shirt up over his head. He snorted. Getting naked in a dream always went so much smoother than in real life. He tossed the shirt out of sight and scooped her back into his arms.

“You’re wearing too much now, Sweets.”

Felicity snapped her fingers. The thin tank and jeans she’d been wearing disappeared, leaving her in nothing but a thong. “You were saying?”

John yanked her tight against him and raked his nails down her chest. Felicity shivered and leaned into his touch. She moved his palm to her breast.

“Pinch it.”

John rolled her nipple between his index finger and thumb. Felicity moaned and caressed the bulge in his pants. She rolled her hips and shifted her damp pussy over his thigh. “John, fuck me.” She clenched her teeth and tilted her head back. “So good. Harder. Mark me. Fuck.”

Holy hell. If she kept up grinding on him and talking dirty, he’d come in his pants. He glanced around the space they were in. Four walls and a bed. Perfect…if he had any idea where the room was located. He mentally shrugged and walked to the bed with her in his arms.

“Lay down.”

Felicity gave him a sideways smile and dipped her head once as she sat down on the edge of the mattress. John grabbed the thin band of elastic on her thong and pulled. The flimsy fabric gave way, leaving her bare. Felicity cupped her breasts and opened her legs.

“Beautiful.” He worked the button on his pants. Seeing her glistening pussy and smelling the sweet scent of her arousal got to him every time. He struggled with the zipper. “Fuck.”

“Yes, please.”

Damn button. John growled and wrenched the waistband of his jeans.

“Let me.” Felicity sat up and curled her fingers around his. “Slow down. We’ve got ages.” She wriggled her hips. “Make me remember. Make it last.”

A cool wind whipped up his spine. They didn’t have ages. They didn’t have any time. She was dead and he wasn’t. Felicity stared up at him with questions in her eyes.

Matt locked up before he climbed behind the wheel of the car again. He loved living in a small town. Everything was close enough that he could either drive or walk to most places. Tonight, though, he was too tired to walk to the park. He gripped the steering wheel. Jesus. He’d reverted to talking to his dog like a best friend. He needed to get out more. Oh, well. At least the dog is loyal.

He drove to the dog park and tried to calm his mind. The men he knew weren’t loyal. Since he’d split from Colin, he hadn’t found a decent guy who wouldn’t cheat. First, Scott had come along with his wandering eyes, then Tom had followed suit. Tom had felt the need to spread himself around. Maybe Matt had been too choosy? Maybe he wasn’t pushy enough? Maybe he’d set himself up for failure? No one understood him the way Colin had. Would anyone else?

Matt parked in the lot. He had to face his ex. Even if Colin wasn’t there, eventually, he’d have to see him again. He might as well brace himself. He clicked Willie’s leash on his collar, then led him over to the fenced-in area. Once inside the park, he let Willie run. His head hurt. He hated being lonely, but he wasn’t ready to open his heart—not again.

Willie darted by with a white puff. Matt recognized the two pink bows in the dog’s fur. “Judy?” Damn it. He’d hoped that by running late, he’d miss Colin.

“Hi, you.” Colin strode up to Matt. “Seems those two have a radar set for each other.”

“Yeah.” He tensed. Seeing Colin brought up too many tough memories and too much hurt. He’d have to resign himself to being around his ex and his heart being broken each time.

“I brought you coffee.” Colin held up a paper cup. “I thought you might like a drink.”

He tossed the ball for Willie, then turned to Colin. “Thanks, I think.” He didn’t take the cup. “Won’t Mason be upset with you? Bringing me coffee…that’s awfully chummy.”

“No.” Colin offered the cup again. “Here. Take it.”

He complied but glanced about. “Where is Mason?”

“Probably at work.” Colin tipped his head. “I don’t care where he is. He’s not my problem.”

“What?” He knew Colin better than he’d thought and this wasn’t Colin. His ex wasn’t a cheater. “Do you and Mason have an open relationship?”

“Wow,” Colin said. “I didn’t expect you to ask that.”

“Why not? If I were your…person…and you brought coffee to your ex while I knew nothing, I’d be hurt. Won’t Mason be upset?” Matt asked.

“I don’t doubt he’ll be mad.” Colin stepped in close to Matt. “He hates your fucking guts.” His eyes flashed. “For real.”

Matt bit back a groan. He’d guessed Mason wasn’t his biggest fan, but to hate his guts? Lovely. Yet, here was Colin, close to him and grinning. No wonder Mason wasn’t thrilled. He didn’t have a rein on Colin. Matt hated himself. The closer Colin got, the more he wanted to kiss him. Now isn’t that fucked up?

“You bring out the bad girl in me. I forgot how much I liked it.”

If he shoved her panties to the side, she’d let him grope her there in the reception room. He resisted the urge to go too far and moved her dress to repair her modesty. “You’re good at being bad.” With the pads of his fingers, he stroked down the length of her leg and caressed her ankle. The crimson polish on her toes glittered in the fluorescent light. “You always did like bare feet.”

Her voice dropped to the husky purr he hadn’t heard in a long time. “My stilettos pinched my toes. Bare is more comfortable.”

“I’m glad you came back.” The old feelings welled in his brain, reminding him how he hadn’t stopped loving her. Ever. “You aren’t the same girl who walked out of here three years ago. Not really. I want to discover all the ways you’ve grown.”

“You’ve changed, too.” The husky tone of her voice trailed up his spine. Jenna traced the line of his lapel with her finger. “More poetic, less gruff. And you shaved.” For the first time since she’d set foot on the tarmac, she smiled. “I like the changes. They work on you.” She murmured in his ear, “I wouldn’t have stopped you if you kept going.”

It’s 1970. The world is in upheaval. Can two people really make a difference and find love at the same time?

Noel Flynt signed up for the Army to carry out his family duty. He never expected the travesties of Vietnam to take their toll on him. He’s coming back to the world he thought he knew, but with everything changing around him, he’s going to have to learn he can’t live in the past.

Cindy Stephens couldn’t wait for Noel to return. She sees the man within the uniform and has loved him for as long as she can remember. But times have changed. She’s not the timid schoolgirl any longer. Can she accept his changes, too?
The only constants are time and love.

Reader Advisory: This book contains one war hero, the woman who loves him, lots of hot sex, with a little spanking mixed in for good measure.

“Hey.” He cupped her chin. “If I learned nothing else over there, it’s that tomorrow is never guaranteed.” Noel wiped away one of her tears with the pad of his thumb. “I can’t say I’m not sorry she dumped me this way. Things probably wouldn’t have worked out, but I sure as shit wish Sophie had had the balls to tell me herself in person.”

“You don’t mean that.” Cindy scooted closer to him. “You two were the perfect pair.” Saying the words out loud hurt.

“I am far from perfect and I’m positive Sophie and I wouldn’t have had a future together. What she wants is now nothing like what I want.” Noel tapped her nose with his index finger, like he had when she was a child. “I’m not sorry and I’m not surprised. Sophie can’t handle things when the shit hits the fan. She wants the easy way out. I just hope the poor asshole knows what he’s gotten himself into.” He kissed her ring finger. “This looks better on your hand, like it’s supposed to be there.”

She touched his cheek, loving the scratch of day-old whiskers against the tips of her fingers. “Thank you.”

“That’s why you have it now.” He tilted his wrist. “My watch says it’s nearly seven. Why don’t we get out of this parking garage? Are you hungry? I’m starving. We could grab a late supper and talk.”

“Sure.” She cleared her throat. “Why don’t you drive?”

Noel offered his hand. “Yeah?” He helped her off the trunk of the car, but didn’t back up. The hem of her dress caught on his jeans leg, exposing most of her thigh. She wriggled to cover herself up, but he stopped her again. “Been a long time since I’ve seen something so sexy.” He smoothed the fabric, palming her thigh on the way down. “A long time.”

His lips parted and his breath warmed her skin. The musk of his cologne wrapped around her, enveloping her in his strength and masculinity. She placed her hands on his chest. His pulse thrummed under her hand. If she bounced on the balls of her feet, she’d be able to kiss him. His words came back to her. Tomorrow is never guaranteed. Then she’d take her chance today.

Cindy licked her bottom lip then captured his mouth in a kiss. Noel hummed and curled his arms around her waist. He tightened his grasp, holding her flush against his body. His erection jabbed into her stomach. Heat from him radiated along her nerve endings. His tongue tangled with hers. Feeling bold, she sucked on his tongue and ground her hips on his thigh. If they hadn’t been in the middle of the parking garage, she’d gladly have helped him initiate her trunk lid.

Noel pulled away first. A predatory look filled his brown eyes. “Get in the car.”

Noel stood and shoved his pants and boxers to the floor, then fumbled on the floor for his wallet. He tore the foil packet and sheathed himself. He couldn’t remember why he had the rubber, but he appreciated it being there in the clinch. He crawled on top of her. “Relax, breathe and look at me. I’ll try to make this wonderful. Hug me, dig your nails in, whatever you need to take the edge off.”

He rubbed his cockhead over her clit, eliciting another groan from her. Her lips parted and her puffed breath tickled his cheeks. Noel palmed her breast and nudged the blunt tip of his cock into her pussy. Her eyes widened and she cried out. Damn. He’d figured sex would hurt the first time. Hell. He moved slower and murmured in her ear.

“Yes, Sunshine. God, yes.” He pushed a little more, seating himself fully within her, and stopped.

“Hurts,” she whispered. Her nails bit into his back.

Noel pulled out and moved a little, balancing himself on one hand and his knees. “Enough?”

Cindy shook her head. “Feels better. Fuck me.”

“Such dirty words.” Noel kissed her and added another light thrust. “You fit around me like perfection.” His balls drew tight. God, he’d blow in moments.

“Harder. Doesn’t hurt as much. Please?” Cindy hooked her ankles together at the small of his back.

Noel kept himself in check, but increased the speed of his thrusts. Each time he withdrew, her walls pulled him back in. He let go of her breast and planted both hands, one on either side of her head. Cindy whimpered and worked her pussy over his cock. Her body went taut and her fingers clamped around his arms. He groaned and emptied his seed into the condom. A thought crossed his mind. If she were truly his, the condom wouldn’t be necessary.

Cindy went limp and stared up at him with glassy eyes. Her eyelids drooped and a sleepy smile formed on her lips. She touched his cheek. “I love you.”

John crept into the massive room. Water splashed from the massive waterfall in the corner, and the sound of laughter from the mermaids filled the air. A couple of seahorse men chatted with the mermaids — no doubt trying to hook up. He scoped out the scene for his girl. If he were hurting and lost, where would he go?

After a moment, he spotted her. He’d know the light brown shift dress and gorgeous tanned legs anywhere. She perched on the plank sticking out of the side of the ship. Damn her lack of fear. He hated heights but rescuing her from the plank meant dealing with his fears. Screw it. She mattered too much.

John climbed the main ladder to the ship and crossed the main deck. He sat on the railing.

“My pet likes water play? Or to play with heights?” He forced himself to sound angry and relieved. She loved when he used his commanding voice. “I should punish you for running away.”

Her shoulder edged up in a tiny shrug, but she didn’t look at him. She kicked her feet, and the delicate bells around her ankle dinged.

“Excuse me? Is that how you address me?” He stood at his full height and cleared his voice. “Lily?”

She jerked around and glanced over her shoulder. “I’m sorry.” She stood, then crept past him. The blue and green beads in her hair sparkled in the light. “Sir? May I speak freely?”

“I expect you to.” He crooked his fingers under her chin. “Why did you do this?”

Lily sighed. “I wanted you to find me.”

“I did. Always will.”

“Will you, really?” Her dark eyes shone with unshed tears. “You left me for three weeks. No calls, texts, nothing. Then you trained another sub? Really? For what? To teach me a lesson?” She folded her arms and stomped past him to the staircase leading to the ground floor. “Maybe I don’t want you any longer.”

Okay, enough theatrics. John snagged her in his arms and carried her to the seclusion of the staircase. He stopped on the first landing and placed her on the overstuffed bench. “One person holds my heart. One. What I did with Michael to help out Tansy had nothing to do with how I feel about you. She asked for help with an unruly sub. We did, with no sexual contact with that sub.” He knelt before her. “You are within your rights to be upset with us. We should’ve said something to you, and I’m sorry we didn’t. What would you like us to do to make this up to you?”

“You should’ve, and I do have an idea.” She held her head high and a lock of her hair, bound in beads and braids, slipped over her shoulder. “Switched control. Are you willing?”

Josh plopped down on the bar stool and studied his old friend. The man modeled efficiency. In ten minutes’ time, he cleared the tables, soaked glasses in water, and shut neon lights off. He still embodied the free spirit Josh had been in school. The red tips brought out the hazel in Sam’s eyes, and the guyliner accentuated the planes of his angular face. He even kind of liked the piercing below Sam’s bottom lip. What would it feel like if they kissed?

Heaven, more than likely. He’d wanted to tackle his former best friend for a quickie so many times, but never had. Somehow the line “we’re better as friends,” didn’t wash now, any more than it had back then. And who was this Ziggy? He didn’t remember his friend calling his junk by a name, but what did he know? Things changed with time. Maybe now he did and maybe he’d finally gone after his calling. A couple months earlier, he’d posted on Facebook about the club he still wanted to start for the LGBT youth in the area. Had he started the club yet? God knew he could use his past to help others.

“I need to wipe the tables down, then sweep.” Sam grabbed the broom and headed for the far side of the room. The chains on his pants swung in time with his steps. In the garish light, the red in his hair stood out even more but didn’t detract from the light in his eyes. Hell, he preferred him with the unusual hair color.

He mused on their collective past. Sam had worked the thin-and-nerdy look in college, but he’d grown gaunt. Dark scruff decorated his thin cheeks and sprinkled down his neck. His shoulders slumped more, and he didn’t make eye contact as much.

Looks didn’t matter. He’d always had a crush on his friend. In school, he’d sworn he wouldn’t act on the feelings because they got along too well. They’d ruin the friendship with sex. Too bad his heart had never forgotten his former roommate.

Sam stopped running and wiped the sweat glistening on his brow. “I forgot how much work there is when Jen and Clay aren’t here.”

“Then let me do some.” Josh grabbed his hand. “Come here.”

Colin let off the gas and continued down the road, but something in the mirror caught his attention. Red and blue lights. What the hell? Realization washed over him as he recognized the reason for the lights. A cop. Fucking balls. He’d been caught speeding. He pulled over to the side of the road and parked.

“What’s wrong, Dad?” Gage asked from the backseat.

“Daddy went too fast on this road and the cop is calling me out. I was wrong. I was speeding.” He sighed and leaned back in his seat. Shit. Of all the times to screw up, he had to do it in front of his kid.

“Sorry, Dad.” Gage curled up in his booster seat.

“Me too, kid. Now you’re super late.” Colin pressed the button to roll down the window, then reached across the dash to the glove box and retrieved his registration.

“Excuse me, sir.” A shadow darkened the window. “License and registration, please?”

Colin slid the card from his wallet. “Here you go.” He refrained from looking at the cop. Not because he disliked cops, but because the shame of his actions washed over him in epic proportions. He’d been speeding, in a school zone more than likely and with his kid in the car.

“Do you know how fast you were going, sir?” the officer asked.

“Probably twenty miles over the limit.” He closed his eyes and rubbed his forehead.

“Thirty-nine in a twenty. This is a marked school zone. The lights were flashing.”

“I’m sorry, Officer.” Colin opened his eyes. The stress was no excuse to be a jerk. “I was trying to get my son to school and wasn’t paying attention. I accept responsibility for my actions.” And I’ve learned my lesson.

“I see.” The cop paused. “Colin Baker? I knew a guy named Colin Baker when I was in school. We played ball together. Huh. Well, I’m going to give you a ticket. Give me a moment.”

Colin slid his gaze to the officer as the man retreated to the cruiser behind Colin’s car. He didn’t need to read the man’s badge to know his name. He’d recognize that body anywhere—Jordan Hargrove. Why in the name of God did the guy who’d featured prominently in all Colin’s high-school fantasies have to be the guy who was currently writing him up for breaking the speed limit?

The dull ache from the night before developed behind Colin’s eyes. So much for being a good role model for his son. Horrible fucking luck.
