This week for my Saturday Seven list, I’ve been thinking about what I wanted to spotlight. There are so many things I could spotlight, but I’ve been on an old movie binge. There are so many handsome men in those movies. Here is my list of seven, in no particular order.
7. Robert Taylor – Tall, Dark and Handsome and that voice.
6. Joel McCrea – he’s quite underestimated, but great.
5. James Stewart – he’ll always be Mr. Smith to me
4. Cary Grant – four words: Arsenic and Old Lace
3. Tyrone Power – sigh worthy every time
2. Montgomery Clift – that intensity
1. Franchot Tone – I could listen to him talk for hours.
What about you? Who are your favorites? I’ll spotlight the ladies next week. 🙂
OOOH, Tyrone Power! Cary Grant! good taste. 🙂 Sean Connery – before James Bond. He sings in Darby O’Gill and the Little People. Robert Urich and Patrick Swayze are another two that were gone before their time but left lasting legacies in cinema. for me anyway. 🙂
My Saturday 7 is here: https://msfavsthgz.blogspot.com/2018/01/the-appealing-oddness-of-paranormal.html
I tried to go pre-fiftes with my list. I could come up with a whole ‘nother one for more recent and not even hit the brand new ones. 🙂
I do love Cary Grant … but Jimmy Steward is probably my favorite classic star. I’ve seen pretty much everything he’s in. I’ve never heard of Franchot Tone … looked him up on IMDB and still no bells rang. In any case, great post! I’m here: http://www.mariannearkins.com/saturday-seven-dream-reading-nooks/
Gadzuks! Jimmy StewarT … the second I pressed enter I saw the typo. :: head desk :::
I knew what you meant 🙂
Franchot Tone was married to Joan Crawford for a while. After his star faded, she actually took him in and took care of him when he was super old.
Cary Grant was very handsome. I don’t know if Sidney Poitier has been around long enough to count as a classic movie star, but he was very good looking back in the day as well.
I can’t wait to see who you pick next week! What a good idea for these posts.
This is my Saturday Seven post.
Thanks!! I could have a whole list for the middle era (1950s to the 2000s) and one for beyond that and have full lists. 🙂
Ooh really good post. I love all of yours. Can we put Clark Gable and Burt Lancaster on there too? Somehow I am SURE I’m showing my age.
Burt Lancaster and Clark Gable definitely should be added. Only seven is tough!! Maybe I should do a 2.0 list 🙂
Love a lot of these authors. I’m with Marianne, though, I’m not familiar with Tone.
Tone was married to Joan Crawford. 🙂
